CHICOPEE – Mildred L. “Millie” (Weed) Steinbock, 91, of the Fairview section of Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Wednesday, December 8, 2021. She passed into Eternal Life at home surrounded by the care and comfort of her loving family. She was born in Little Deer Island, Maine on December 28, 1929, a beloved daughter of the late Donald and Alecia (Eaton) Weed. She was raised and educated in Little Deer Island and had lived in New Hampshire and Hartford, CT before moving to Holyoke in 1953 and Chicopee in 1961. She was a loving homemaker to her family and had also worked at the former Mr. Cleaner Dry Cleaners in Chicopee. She was a former member of Saint Christopher Episcopal Church in Chicopee. During her leisure time, she enjoyed traveling and had many good times with her daughter on vacation. Above all, she loved her family and many friends. She was predeceased by her beloved husband and soul mate, William R. “Sonny” Steinbock, Jr. who was Called Home on September 12, 2007. They were married on March 14, 1953 in Millerton, NY and were blessed with over 54 years of happiness together. She leaves her two loving children, Cynthia A. Steinbock of South Hadley and Douglas G. Steinbock of West Springfield; her two cherished grandsons, Spencer C. Conroy of Houston, TX and Stephen D. Steinbock of Agawam; her three dear brothers, Robert Weed of New Hampshire, Austin Weed of Maine and Tony Weed of New Hampshire; her two dear sisters, Madeleine Hodgkins of New Hampshire and Bernice Jones of Maine; and her many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, numerous friends and extended family members. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her loving son, William R. Steinbock III who was Called Home on January 15, 2017; her three dear brothers, Donald, Richard and Cleveland Weed; and her five dear sisters, Mildred, Charlotte, Arlene, Vivian and Alecia. Her family will receive friends on Wednesday, December 15, 2021 from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. at the St. Pierre-Phaneuf Fairview Chapels, (413-533-3307), 506 Britton Street, Chicopee, MA 01020, (funeral home will open at 8:30 a.m.), followed by a Requiem Mass at 10 a.m. at All Saints’ Episcopal Church, 7 Woodbridge Street, South Hadley, MA 01075. Her Burial will follow the Requiem Mass at Forestdale Cemetery, 304 Cabot Street, Holyoke, MA 01040. Masks are recommended for her services.
