Obituary


Ann E. Began, age 97, a lifelong resident of Woburn passed away peacefully, Tuesday, December 7, 2021 at the Aberjona Nursing Home in Winchester. She was the beloved wife of the late Timothy E. Began III. Born in Woburn she was one of seven children of the late Joseph and Mary (Kennedy) Holloran.

Ann was raised and educated in Woburn and was a graduate of Woburn High School. She worked as a purchaser for the GTE Sylvania Corp for over thirty years prior to her retirement. Throughout her life, Ann was an avid reader and was passionate about books since she was a young girl and first introduced to the public library. She was a member of the Woburn Public Library Book Club for many years. She enjoyed being active at the Woburn Senior Center and volunteering with many of their activities and events. She also loved to travel and looked forward to her annual trip to Puerto Rico where she stayed with friends for an extended vacation. Ann was proud of her Irish heritage and took great comfort in her strong Catholic Faith belonging to many church groups over the years.

She is survived by her children, John Began and his wife Karen of Woburn, Timothy Began IV and his wife Cheryl of North Carolina, Elaine Hostetler of Woburn, and Richard Began and his wife Doreen of Woburn. She was the loving grandmother of Andrea Roberts and her husband Phil, Jennifer Merlin and her husband Joe, Adam Hostetler, Ashley Hostetler, Kristin Miller and her husband Corey, Ryan Began and his fiancé Jacob Andrus, Coleman Began and Breanna Began. She is further survived by 9 loving great grandchildren and many loving nieces and nephews. Sister of the late Jeanne McGann, Mary Oser, Edna Holloran, Ruth Harding, Joseph Holloran, and Edward Holloran.

Family and friends are respectfully invited to attend visiting hours at the McLaughlin - Dello Russo Family Funeral Home, 60 Pleasant St., WOBURN, Monday, December 13th, from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. followed by a funeral Mass celebrated in St. Barbara Church, 138 Cambridge Rd., Woburn, at 11 a.m. Services will conclude with burial at Calvary Cemetery, Winchester. It has been requested that in lieu of flowers contributions may be made in Ann's memory to the Perkins School for the Blind, 175 North Beacon St., Watertown, MA 02472 or to the Woburn Friends of Hospice VNA Care, Fund Development Office, 199 Rosewood Drive, Suite 180, Danvers, MA 01923.
