Obituary

CHICOPEE – Jeanne Chantal (Cloutier) Lafleur, 98, of the Aldenville section of Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Saturday, December 4, 2021. She passed into Eternal Life at the Mercy Medical Center in Springfield surrounded by the care and comfort of her loving family. She was born in Black Lake, Province of Quebec, Canada on October 8, 1923, a beloved daughter of the late Arthur and Marie Rose (Gagnon) Cloutier. She graduated from Mount Carmel High School in Chicopee and lived in the city for most of her life. She became a United States citizen in 1958. She was the Store Manager at National Blank Book, now, Avery Dennison in Holyoke for 35 years and retired in 1985. Jeanne was a gifted seamstress, creating many doll clothes as well as clothes for her family. She also enjoyed cooking, knitting, crocheting, and gardening. She was a longtime communicant of Sainte Rose de Lima Church in Chicopee. She was predeceased by her beloved husband and soul mate, Roger A. “Pop” Lafleur, Sr. who was Called Home on November 2, 2004. They were married at Sainte Rose de Lima Church in Chicopee on April 11, 1942 and were blessed with over 62 years of happiness together. She leaves her two devoted sons, Roger A. Lafleur, Jr. and his wife, Marie, of Chicopee, and Albert A. Lafleur and his wife, Candice, of South Hadley; her five cherished grandchildren, Kurt Lafleur, Keith Lafleur, Kim Avey, Albert Lafleur, Jr. and his wife, Joni, and Cheryl Hansen and her husband, Steven; her eight cherished great-grandchildren, Jeremy Lafleur, Kyle Lafleur, Mellissa Lafleur, Cory Lafleur, Josh Avey, Daniel Lafleur and his wife, Christine, Jarrett Lafleur, and Samantha Hansen; her four cherished great great grandchildren, Grayson, Maverick, Madison, and Caycie; her dear sister, Noella Gaydos of Chicopee; her dear brother, Roland Cloutier of Chicopee; and her many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, friends and extended family members. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her grandson, Steven J. Lafleur; her great grandson, Tyler Goshea; her four siblings, Albert “Tux” Cloutier, Simone Mathews, Raymond Cloutier, and Rita Kustra. Her Funeral will be held on Friday, December 10, 2021 beginning at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Aldenville Chapels, (413-532-9806), 13 Dale Street, Chicopee, MA 01020, (funeral home will open at 8 a.m.), followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. at Sainte Rose de Lima Church, 600 Grattan Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. Her Burial will follow the Mass at Sainte Rose Cemetery, 49 Olsen Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. Her family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, December 10, 2021 from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. before Mass. Masks are recommended for her funeral services. The parking lot and main entrance of the funeral home are located in the rear at 20 Lafayette Street, Chicopee, MA 01020.
