Rosemary F. (Martin) Saunders, 91, of Dartmouth passed away Sunday, December 5, 2021 peacefully at home surrounded by her family. She was the wife of the late John W. "Jack" Saunders.
Born in Brooklyn, NY, the daughter of the late Vincent and Catherine (Lethgoe) Martin, she was raised in New Bedford and had lived in Dartmouth since 1964. She was a graduate of Holy Family High School.
Rosemary was the President and co-owner of Pier Oil Company with her late husband for many years. She also had been a top-selling realtor with Century 21 Hughes & Carey.
She enjoyed sewing and making ceramics.
She is survived by five daughters, Luanne Lee and her husband Jim, Joanne Costa and her husband Gilly, Jackie Shepley, Lynne Fontes, and Kathy DaCosta and her husband Tom; two sisters, Helen Gajewski and Myra Soares; 13 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was the sister of the late Vincent W. Martin.
Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, December 10th at 10 AM at Holy Name of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Church. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery, Fairhaven. Visiting hours will be on Thursday December 9th from 4-8 PM at the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford.
