Obituary

Robert G. Peckham, 83, of New Bedford died December 2, 2021 peacefully at St. Luke's Hospital.
He was the husband of Betsy Ann (Freitas) Peckham, with whom he shared 60 years of marriage.
Born in New Bedford, son of the late Wilford S. and Louise (Allen) Peckham, he lived in New Bedford all of his life.
After serving in the U.S. Army during the Berlin Crisis, he was the proprietor of Peckham Kitchen & Home Center for over 50 years until his retirement.
He was an active communicant of St. Julie Billiart Church, serving as Eucharistic Minister and enjoyed playing the organ during morning Mass.
Bob loved spending time with his family and summers by the pool.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Michael Peckham and his wife Deborah of Acushnet; 2 daughters, Linda Mendez and her husband Paul of Fairhaven and Shauneen Visbaras and her husband Scott of Georgetown, SC; a brother, Paul Peckham of Louisana; 3 sisters, Jane Desroches of Fairhaven, MaryLou Galvam of Florida and Eleanor Randolph of Georgia; 5 grandchildren, Brandon Mendez, Justin Peckham and his wife Nicole, Trevor Peckham and Heaven Robinson, Dylan Visbaras and Alison Visbaras; 4 great-grandchildren, Dylan, Serynity, Bailey and Joy; and many nieces and nephews.
His Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, January 22, 2022 at 11 AM in St. Julie Billiart Church. Visiting hours are omitted. Arrangements are with the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to St. Vincent de Paul Society, c/o St. Julie Billiart Church, 494 Slocum Rd., Dartmouth, MA 02747.
