Maud E. (Thomas) Vieira, 73, of New Bedford died Sunday December 5, 2021 at St. Luke's Hospital. She was the former wife of the late Robert K. Vieira.
Ms. Vieira was born in Middleboro, daughter of the late James W. Thomas, Sr. and the late Marion M. (Gifford) Thomas and had resided in New Bedford for most of her life. She was a member of the First Congregational Church at Lunds Corner, New Bedford. She was a stitcher for many years and went on to become a Home Health Aide loved by many of her clients. She was a member of the VFW Tuttle Post 7239 in Acushnet in memory of her father.
Survivors include her son: William T. Thomas of New Bedford; 2 sisters: Nancy Gonsalves of New Bedford and Rona McKay of FL; 2 brothers: Ronald Shurtleff of VA and James W. Thomas, Jr. of New Bedford; along with many nieces, nephews and her babies she loved: Jesse Leon, Braylynn Lake, Genevieve Ruiz, Brady Andrade, Jai'el Duarte, Melody Leon and Jezebel Smith.
She was the sister of the late Harrison Shurtleff, Francis Shurtleff, Roger Piche, Jr. and Randy S. Thomas.
Her babies referred to her as their "Aunty Mum" and she will be greatly missed and loved eternally.
Funeral service to which relatives and friends are invited will be Friday, December 10, 2021 at the Kirby Funeral Home at 10:00 A.M.
Calling hours will be Thursday from 5-7 P.M.
Interment will be in Tabor Cemetery, Acushnet.
