Lillian M. (Hannon) Newell 98, a longtime resident of Bridgewater, died Sunday December 5 at home surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of 74 years to the late Francis J. Newell.
Born and raised in Brockton, she was the daughter of the late Francis Hannon and Lila Wentworth and a graduate of Brockton High.
Lillian was a familiar face having waitressed for over 31 years at “Pat’s Good Food” and in later years working over 20 years for CVS of Whitman.
Lillian enjoyed gardening and had loved to cook for and spend time with her large family.
She is survived by her children William Newell of Bridgewater, Thomas Newell and his wife Teri of Stoughton, Francis J. “Squeeke” Newell, Jr and his companion Marion Diane Arrighi of Bridgewater, Janet Cox and her companion Paul LeClair of East Bridgewater, Joyce O’Neill and her husband John of Sandwich and her son-in-law Donald LeBlanc of Taunton. She is also survived by fifteen grandchildren and twenty-four great grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her daughter Maureen LeBlanc, her grandson Jason Newell and her siblings Francis “Buster” Hannon, Leo “Cheesy” Hannon, James Hannon, Louise Sinclair, Mary Witworth and Grace Scott.
Family and friends are invited to attend her visiting hours on Thursday December 9 from 4-7 PM in the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Plymouth Street (Rte. 58 @ the rotary) Whitman and her funeral service at 11 AM on Friday December 10 in the Chapel. Burial will follow the service in the Colebrook Cemetery, Whitman.
