Almeta R. (Nickelson) Gant, 92, of Anderson, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, December 3, 2021.
She was born on March 21, 1929 in Millersville, Illinois, the only daughter of Richard and Alma (Dooley) Nickelson. She was married in 1945 to her children's father. She was employed for 30 years with Delco Remy Division of General Motors and retired on April 1, 1985. Almeta worshipped at North Christian Church in Markleville, was a member of ABWA-Wapihani Chapter. She attended Park Place Church of God for many years and was a member of Companero. She enjoyed sewing and oil painting, and being with her family. Almeta had a great love of life!
Almeta is survived by her five children; Patricia (Glenn) Cox, Sheryl Maier, Barbara (Don) Kuhl, Polly (Micheal) Thompson, A. Dale (Suzy) Richardson; four bonus children; Ted Gant, Jeri (Jimmy) Eaks, Annette (Steven) Duncan, Penny D. Barker; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; two brothers, Andrew (Jeanie) Nickelson and Sidney (Judy) Nickelson; brother-in-law, Ray Gant; many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Charles Gant; daughter, Deborah Surface; three brothers, Richard, Paul and Gordon; son-in-law, John Maier; mother-in-law, Maxine Richwine.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 10, 2021 at 2 PM at Rozelle-Johnson Funeral Service, officiated by Rev. John Hackney. Burial will follow at East Maplewood Cemetery.
Visitation will also be held on Friday, two hours prior to the funeral service at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be given to North Christian Church in Markleville for the electronic sign fund.
