Obituary

Celestin Compere was born on March 8, 1935 in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. He was the son of the late Catule Compere and the late Lucie Pierre. Celestin went to elementary school at Jean Marie Guilloux and received his high school education at the Lycee Toussaint. He continued on to study Sociology in college and graduated from the school of Normal. After graduating, he became ateacher for a high school and college Mathematics. Yet Celestin didn't stop there. He soon became the director of one of the establishments.

After long years of hard work, Celestin decided to move to the United States in 1969, upon his arrival he lived in New York for many years with his family and friends. After his hospitalization due to his sickness he was unable to continue living alone. In 2013, his daughter moved him to Boston, Ma., where he spent the last few tears of his life. Celestin left us to be with the Lord on November 27, 2021. He fought a long battle of Cancer, Alzheimer, and other conditions that had later surfaced.

Celestin had three children: Betty Compere, the late Evens Compere, and Alex Patrick Compere. He had four grandchildren as well, Sabryn Maisonneuve, Sahgine Maisonneuve, and two other grandchildren that belong to Alex. Celestin was the oldest of eight. His eight younger siblings are Wilfred Compere, Deleme Compere, Nosita Compere-Hyacinthe, Marie Andre Compere, the late Ginette Compere, the late Serge Compere, and the late Sony Compere. He was an uncle to many: Frank Compere, Fred Compere, Abel Hyacinthe, Greg Hyacinthe, Roland Hyacinthe Jr., Anne Hyacinthe, Monique Compere Anderson, Jacqueline Compere, Emmanuel Compere, Edner Bien-Aime Junior. Celestin will be dearly missed by all his cousins, nephews, and nieces that are not listed, as well as his friends and family.
