Ms. Westwood worked as a medical secretary at the University of Massachusetts Medical School and later at an optomologist’s office before retiring in 2003.
Rose was a faithful and active member of the Journey Community Church in Worcester. Known as a prayer warrior, she took her faith and mission very seriously: she was a regular at prayer meetings, involved in both Bible studies, and the global outreach committee, and was part of a missionary trip to Haiti. She served on the church staff for several years as an administrative secretary.
Her love for family, animals and nature defined her spirit. She was most content spending time with her children and grandchildren at family gatherings and trips to the mountains and ocean. When her children were growing up she volunteered at Saint Joseph Elementary School in Webster. An avid reader, her Kindle was never far from her side. She found solace among the plants on her balcony where she prayed and reflected daily.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, December 10, 2021 at 12:00 noon in the Sitkowski, Malboeuf & Hickey Funeral Home, 340 School Street, Webster. Visitation will be held Friday in the funeral home from 10:00 AM until the time of the service. Masks are required. The family kindly requests that flowers be omitted and instead donations be made to either the Generosity Project at The Journey Community Church (https://thejourneyma.churchcenter.com/giving) or to your local animal rescue league or shelter.
