Obituary

Joseph Frederick Merrill, age 48, passed away suddenly and unexpectedly on Saturday, November 27, 2021. Joe was a loving and devoted father to Caitlin and Ryan; dearest son of Linda and Frederick (Anne-Marie); beloved brother to Michelle (David) and step-brother to Molly (John) and Courtney (Andrew); and cherished relative and friend to numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, co-workers, and friends.

Joe was a lifelong New Hampshire resident, born in Exeter, NH and a high school graduate of Pinkerton Academy in 1991 where he played football, lacrosse, and track. He then obtained a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Florida Southern College where he was president of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity and participated in multiple intramural sports. Later, he obtained an MBA from Franklin Pierce College. Throughout his career he was employed by many different companies; most recently, he was employed at Epoxy Technology in Billerica, Massachusetts, where he enjoyed his work and more importantly, his co-workers.

In his community, Joe was a church elder at Windham Presbyterian Church and he coached his kids’ sports teams for baseball and basketball. He was huge fan of all New England sports teams, but his two favorite, ride or die teams, were the Patriots and Red Sox. Joe was a funny guy who loved practical jokes, and he could make anyone laugh. Whenever he got the chance, he would tear up the dance floor because he truly believed he had good rhythm. However, his greatest legacy is his children - he was happiest and proudest being Kate and Ryan’s father, and he will be sorely missed.

Friends will be received on Friday December 10, 2021 from 4 - 8pm at the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 290 Mammoth Road, Londonderry, NH. At the request of the family, all guests are asked to wear masks. Funeral services will be held on Saturday December 11, 2021 at 11:00am at First Parish Congregational Church, 47 East Derry Road, Derry, NH.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Pass Along Project: https://www.thepassalongproject.com/donate-funds. Donations to Katie and Ryan in Joe’s memory would also be greatly appreciated, and if online, may be made here: https://www.gofundme.com/f/help-katie-and-ryan-navigate-the-next-few-months/
