Suzanne E. McDonald, 62, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, November 28, 2021.
She was the daughter of Jacquelyn E. McDonald and the late James McDonald and granddaughter of Drs. John T. and Evelyn E. Barrows.
Born in New Bedford and graduated from Dartmouth High School in 1977 after which, earned a BS from University of Massachusetts at Amherst in 1982. Suzanne was Vice-President for North Dartmouth Properties, Inc. located in Dartmouth.
Elected to the Dartmouth Library Board of Trustees in 2014, Suzanne continued to serve as a Trustee until her passing. She was also the Chair of the Library Building Committee for the new branch located on Cross Road. A Town Meeting Member from Precinct Five for many years rounded out her civic participation.
Suzanne was a member and Treasurer of the Whaling City Camera Club and Cape Cod Art Center Photography Club where she honed her photography passion. She entered several local, regional and national competitions and won various awards.
She loved her orchids and numerous indoor plants. She also loved to read and collected books and novels from many writers, with an extensive collection of their works.
She also loved her New England Patriots and spent many years going to the games and tailgating before and after with the crew. Go Pats!
Survivors include her mother, her son, Justin S. McDonald of Winter Park, FL; her brothers, Shawn D. McDonald and wife, Louise of Dartmouth and Christopher McDonald and his wife, Susan of Killingly, CT.; nephews Michael of Lincoln, RI and Shaun of Dartmouth and nieces Kimberly, Angela, Kaelyn and Venna of Dartmouth.
Arrangements are by Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St. in New Bedford. No calling hours at this time.
