Obituary

In New Bedford, December 1, 2021 Michael B. Baran husband of Sally (Milko) Baran of sixty seven years died suddenly at the age of 95 at St Lukes Hospital. Michael was born in Taunton, son the late Joseph and Tekla (Taback) Baran. He attended Taunton school. Upon graduation from Msgr Coyle High School, he enlisted into the Army Air Corps serving during WWII. Returning from the service, he attended the Allen School of Aeronautics. Mike worked for Western Auto and retired from New England Telephone after thirty two years as a linesman. Mike belonged to Annunciation of the Lord Church and the former Holy Rosary Church. He belonged to the Berkley Happy Hearts, Telephone Over the Hill Gang and the Association of Bell Tel Retirees. After retirement he especially enjoyed hunting and fishing with his son. He loved gardening and did a lot of Travelling. In his early years he was an avid bowler. He leaves his devoted son Michael and his wife Beth Russell Baran of Berkley. He leaves two brothers Stanley and Joseph Baran both of Raynham and one sister Joan and her husband James Pena of Taunton. He was predeceased by four sisters and one brother. Calling hours will be held at the O’Keefe-Wade Funeral Home 70 Washington Street in Taunton on Saturday, December 4th from 9 to 10:30 AM followed by a mass of Christian burial at Annunciation of the Lord Church in Taunton at 11 AM. Interment St Joseph Cemetery in Taunton. In lieu of flowers donations in Michael’s memory may be made to St Jude’s Children’s Hospital, 501 St Jude Place, Memphis, TN, 38105.
