Elizabeth A. "Betty" McCarthy, in her 85th year, of Medford, formerly of Charlestown, November 30th. Beloved wife of Robert T. McCarthy with whom she shared 62 years of marriage. Mother of Robert J. McCarthy of Stoneham, Kathleen E. Onorato and her husband Sal of Charlestown and Brendan P. McCarthy of Medford. Grandmother of Christopher McCarthy, Chiara McCarthy, Sarah Onorato and Jennifer Onorato . Sister of Joseph T. Moriarty and his wife Carol of Leominster. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Betty was raised and educated in Charlestown. An exceptional student, Betty was once double promoted. She is a graduate of Girls High School in Boston, class of 1953 and is also a graduate of Hickox Secretarial School. Betty has been a resident of Medford since 1972. For many years, she worked as a legal secretary for Ropes & Gray, WEEI Radio and the Malden Evening News. She was a former member of the St. Francis of Assisi Parish Mother’s Club in Medford. First and foremost, Betty was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister who enjoyed the company of her family. Relatives & friends are invited to attend her Funeral Mass celebrated at Immaculate Conception Church, 600 Pleasant St., Malden on Monday December 6th at 10 AM. Interment is private and visiting hours have been respectfully omitted.
