Edward John Raymond, 81, of Dedham, MA, passed away on Wednesday, December 1, 2021 at his home after a brief battle with cancer. Born in Everett, MA, he moved to Dedham in 1971. Edward graduated from Everett High School, class of 1958. After graduating, he went on to receive his Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, with Honors, from Northeastern University in 1963, followed by a Master of Business Administration from Northeastern University in 1970. Edward worked at General Electric in Lynn, Massachusetts for 37 years until retiring in 2000. After retirement, he returned to work at GE as a pensioner for another 15 years.
Edward is predeceased in death by his parents, Ralph and Anna Raymond, and his wife, Dorothy (Rivera) Raymond (1986).
Edward is survived by his loving daughter Tracy Raymond of Malden, MA; his devoted cat, Angel; cousin Robert Ash and his wife Patricia of Denmark, ME; sister-in-law Violet Ruetsch of Bridgewater, NJ; sister-in-law Jean Lacorte and her husband Rosario of Berkeley Heights, NJ; brother-in-law Lawrence Rivera and his wife, Elizabeth, of Somerset, NJ; and numerous beloved nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours will be held at the George F. Doherty & Sons Wilson-Cannon Funeral Home, 456 High St., Dedham on Sunday, Dec. 5 from 3-6PM. His funeral will take place from the funeral home on Monday, Dec. 6 at 9am followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Mary of the Assumption Church, 420 High St., Dedham at 10AM. Relatives and friends kindly invited. At the family’s request please wear a face covering while inside the funeral home and the church. Burial will immediately follow at Knollwood Memorial Park in Canton.
