South Dartmouth - Jane Evans Walker passed away peacefully at her home in South Dartmouth on Tuesday, November 23, 2021, just over 9 months after the passing of the love of her life, Bob Walker. Born on April 5, 1927, she was one of two daughters of Arthur and Mary Evans of Waban and Scituate, MA. She and Bob were married on December 27, 1949, in Scituate.
She is survived by four daughters, Deborah Walker and her husband Christopher Rodger of Washington, DC, Elizabeth Walker of Berlin, MD, Patricia Walker King and her husband Paul King of Needham, MA, and Jenny Walker of Louisville, KY, nine grandsons and five great grandchildren. Her son, Captain Frank Evans Walker, USAF, predeceased her in 1986.
Before marrying, Jane attended the Rhode Island School of Design. A talented artist and interior decorator, she enjoyed watercolors, gardening and golf and was active in her children's activities, including being a Girl Scout leader for a number of years. During Bob's naval career, they moved to six different states before taking up permanent residence in South Dartmouth in 1968. She was active with the docents at the New Bedford Whaling Museum, with The Garden Conservancy, and with the Buzzards Bay Garden Club where she was a member since 1975. In 1979, Bob and Jane began living in Destin, FL for a portion of the winter where they developed many lifelong friendships.
A private family gathering to celebrate her life will be held at a later date.
