Obituary

Buxton, Maine - Stephen Joseph Heroux, age 61, died peacefully at his home surrounded by his family on Sunday, November 28, 2021. Stephen was born in Fall River, Massachusetts in 1960. Following his graduation from Somerset High, he went on to graduate from Thomas College in Waterville, Maine. After marrying his beloved wife, Patricia Guay, their daughter, Riley, was born. If anyone asked Stephen what his greatest joy in life was, he always answered “Riley”. He was her anchor, her best friend, and her hero. The bond between Stephen and Riley was, and is, unbreakable.

For most of his life, Stephen was a fine craftsman and finish carpenter, specializing in restoring historical homes. More recently he was employed as a Facilities Manager by MSAD #6 – a job he adored. Stephen served several years as Buxton Board of Appeals Chairman, as an MSAD #6 School Board member, and on several other school and town committees.

Stephen is predeceased by his loving parents, Mary and Paul Heroux, of both Somerset and West Island, Massachusetts. He is survived by his wonderful and supportive brothers and sisters and their spouses: Susan Carrier and husband Mark; Jeff Heroux and wife MaryAnn; Nancy Heroux; Donna England and husband Ray; Chris Heroux and wife Debra; and all his special nieces and nephews that he so loved.

Simply stated: Stephen was honest, faithful, and true. He touched the lives of so many with his sincerity. The list of friends, neighbors, and community members who loved him is endless. Stephen wished that his memory be honored in the following fashion: take an active part in your community; make a difference for your children’s futures; donate your time, energy, and goodwill to your neighborhood; be resourceful and share your knowledge; always be available; always follow through; and always treat the needs of others as if they were your own.

We would like to thank the wonderful teams at Maine Medical Partners and Dana Farber Cancer Institute departments of neuro-oncology for their compassionate care and guidance over the last three years.
