Pauline E. “Ponnie” (Burns) Leana, age 93, of Brockton, died peacefully Saturday, November 27, 2021 surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of the late Ricco Leana for 67years.
She was born in Altoona, PA, a daughter of the late Roy and Mary (Brennan) Burns and raised in State College, PA.
She was a proud member of the State College drum and bugle corps, playing snare drums and was an avid swimmer and champion diver. She was also an voracious reader.
Pauline was a graduate of St. Francis Hospital School of Nursing in Pittsburgh and started her career as a registered nurse in the hospital. She retired to stay home and raise her children.
Pauline will be remembered as a generous and empathetic woman who was a friend to the down-trodden.
Pauline is survived by three daughters: Shawn Dumoulin and her companion Tom DeMayo, Cheryl Wareham and her husband John, and Carrie Leana. She was the grandmother of Michele, Gregory, Kelly, Michael, John, Don, Joseph and Leanna; great grandmother of ten and great great grandmother of one. She was the sister of Ellen Haney and the late Catherine Patrick.
Private family services will be held in the Conley Funeral Home, Brockton, followed by burial in Calvary Cemetery.
