Jackie Blair Benson, age 84, died in his home in Irwinville, GA on November 27, 2021. Funeral services will be held at The Irwinville United Methodist Church on Tuesday, November 30, 2021 at 11:00 AM, with the Rev. Jay Roberson officiating. Visitation will be held at the church an hour before the service. Interment will be held immediately after the service at the Irwinville Cemetery.
Jackie was born in Tifton, Georgia to the late Mason and Sybil Kilpatrick Benson and was a 1955 graduate of Irwin County High School. Jackie settled and spent most of his life in Irwinville after honorably serving 2 years in the National Guard and 4 years in the United States Air Force. He worked and retired from Warner Robins Air Force Base after 28 years of service. He, too, served his church and the Irwinville community most of his life and in many ways. Mainly, he was a friend to all.
Jackie is survived by his wife of 59 years, Mildred Guy Benson, three children: Jamie Benson (Debbie), Robert Benson, and Leanna Hicks (David), all of Irwinville, Ga. He and Mildred have 6 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren. Jackie is also survived by a sister: Marie Benson Paramore and her family of North Carolina. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 2 brothers, and 2 sisters.
In lieu of flowers and in remembrance of Jackie’s life, the family request that any charitable donations be made to The Methodist Children’s Home, Macon, Ga or the Christian Kitchen in Fitzgerald, Ga.
