Victoria Cruz, longtime resident of Dorchester, passed away at the age of 95 on Tuesday, November 23, 2021. Born in Yabucoa, Puerto Rico in 1926, Ms. Cruz came to Boston in 1958 with her two young children, joined afterwards by her two older children. A seamstress all of her life, she was also a very devout Catholic having taught catechism at the former St.Kevin’s Church, as well at Holy Family Catholic Church. Preceded in death by her children, Porfirio Vazquez and Myrna Vazquez de Rivera, she is survived by her daughters, Paulina Otero and Hilda Vazquez, numerous grandchildren and even more great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind four siblings, in Boston and Puerto Rico. The family will receive visitors at Holy Family Catholic Church 24 Hartford St. Dorchester on Thursday, December 2, 2021, from 4pm-7pm. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Holy Family Catholic Church on Friday, December 3, 2021 at 10am. Interment will follow the Mass at Oak Lawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Holy Family Catholic Church.
