Obituary

Sandra "Sandy" Jane MacLeod-McDonough age 75 of Whitman,MA unfortunately died very unexpectedly on Wednesday November 17,2021 at 3:41pm. She had currently been at Signature Healthcare Brockton Hospital in Brockton, MA where she had surgery. While recovering from surgery at the hospital she unfortunately contracted pneumonia and then Covid-19 which ended up being the cause of her very unexpected and sudden death which happened in less than 48hrs. She was predeceased by her husband of 40yrs Robert (Butch) Charles McDonough, her parents James D MacLeod and Margaret Hadley-MacLeod, her brother James W. MacLeod and sister Jean M Williams as well as niece Kelly E. Williams.
Sandy leaves behind the broken hearts of her daughter Dawn M. McDonough-Elfman and live-in partner Shawn Schirmer as well as her grandchildren Shayne, Cody and Zachary Elfman and Makayla(Carly) Holland. She is also survived bye her brother Bruce MacLeod and spouse Christine MacLeod, her sisters Carol McSweeney, Muriel Hanson and spouse Larry Hanson Sr. and Margaret Robbs and spouse John Robbs as well as many nieces and nephews she was extremely close to.
Sandy was born on October 25,1946 in Boston in which she was also raised but then spent most of her life living in Rockland,MA. Early in life Sandy worked at the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston and then she went on to work for Electro Signal Lab of Hingham where she worked until they closed. Then later in life she worked for the Rockland Middle School and Tedeschi Food Shops until she finally retired.
She was a cancer survivor of over 20yrs and lived a long happy life. Although her life was unfortunately shortened, she touched the lives of everyone she met. Sandy was the kind of person you always wanted to be around and when thought of it would bring a smile to your face and make you laugh cause u never knew what was going to come out of her mouth from one minute to the next. Even though she would always make everyone laugh and she definitely had a one of a kind personality she was the nicest person in the world and did everything she could for the people she knew and loved.
The family will be having visiting hours on Saturday December 4th 2021 from 4 to 6pm at Casper's Funeral Home 187 Dorchester St South Boston, MA. Everyone is invited to please join the family as they say goodbye and pay their last respects to an angel that was taken from us way too soon. The family will also be having another service at Casper's with a funeral procession down to The National Cemetery in Bourne,MA where Sandy's funeral service will be held and she will finally reunite with her husband and soulmate for all eternity. Unfortunately the date and time of that service will be posted here at a later date due to Sandy being cremated before the funeral service in Bourne which everyone is also welcome to join the family at.
