Mildred Wayne, 102, of Saugus and formerly of Chelsea and Malden passed away peacefully on November 25th. Mildred was the beloved wife of the late Dr. J. George Wayne. She was the devoted mother of Dr. Deborah Wayne and A. Steven Wayne and his wife Galina.
Mildred was an incredibly kind and loving woman. She was a life member of B’Nai Brith and a former speaker for the Anti-Defamation League. She was a Melvin Jones Fellow of the Lions Club International and had a vast number of friends though the Lions Club which she was so passionate about.
Mildred was the dear sister of the late Sidney Gould and his wife Barbara and the late Gladys Gould. She was the loving grandmother of Sarah Britt and loving great grandmother of Joseph George Britt, Richard Daniel Britt, and Lillianna Grace Britt. She was also the treasured aunt of many nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at the Torf Funeral Chapel, 151 Washington Avenue, Chelsea on Sunday, November 28 at 11 AM. Interment to follow in Danvers. Memorial observance at the home of Dr. Deborah Wayne on Sunday following interment and on Monday and Tuesday from 4-8 PM. Donations in Mildred’s memory may be made to the Massachusetts Lions Eye Research Fund, 43 Stewart Terrace, Belmont, MA 02478.
