Maria Gibau (81) of Brockton died November 24th in the Good Samaritan Medical Center. She was the wife of the late Moises Gibau.
She was born in Nossa Senhora De Monte, Brava, Cabe Verde daughter of the late Manuel Fernandes and Clara (Costa) Fernandes. Maria was a seamstress and a communicant of St. Edith Stein Church. She enjoyed cooking and going to the various casinos.
Maria is survived by her son John Gibau of Brockton, (mother of the late Steve Gibau), 2 sisters, Eugenia Andrade of New Bedford and Margarida of Portugal, (sister of the late Abilio Fernandes and Clarinda), 2 brothers, JJ Fernandes of Brazil and Betino Fernandes of Rhode Island, her grandson Avidean, 2 sister in laws, Maria Fernandes of Brockton and Dada Viera of Rhode Island, 2 brother in laws, Boi Fortes and Dedei both of New Bedford, 2 step daughters, Ilda Andrade and Zenha Fortes, many nieces and nephews including George and Laura Fernandes also many cousins.
Visitation in the Home of Funerarias Multi Culturel, 238 Court Street Brockton Wednesday December 1st from 4-7 pm. Services in the Funeral Home Thursday December 2nd at 9 am. Followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Edith Stein Church, 71 E Main Street Brockton at 10 am. Burial to follow in Calvary Cemetery, 163 N Cary Street Brockton.
