New Bedford – Rosa J. (Jaqueta) Russo, age 90, of New Bedford passed away on Wednesday, November 24, 2021 at The Oaks. She was the beloved wife of the late Carlos P. Russo.
Rosa was born in Gala Figueira da Foz, Portugal and was the beloved daughter of the late Jose Jaqueta and Rosa (Henriques) Jaqueta. She had been a welder for Aerovox.
She loved her cat, Gracie, the Red Sox and singing “Ooh La La, Cha Cha Cha”. Rosa also enjoyed Solitaire, Word Search, crossword puzzles, Jumble and also loved to color.
Rosa is survived by her son, Carl Russo and his wife Susan; her daughter, Rosemary Botelho and her husband Joe; grandchildren, Peter Russo, Danny Russo, Elisabeth Botelho and Michael Botelho; great-grandchildren, Austin, Panther, Idalys, Cameryn and Brian; as well as several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her late siblings, Conceicao Henriques, Irene Borges and Lourdes Cecilio.
The family would like to give out a special thank you to Brandon Woods Day Care and to The Oaks for all of their kindness and care.
Rosa’s visiting hours and funeral services will be held on Tuesday, November 30, 2021. Visiting hours will be held from 8:00 A.M. – 10:00 A.M. and followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church at 10:30 A.M. Burial will immediately follow in St. John’s Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that you consider a donation to be made in Rosa’s memory to the Alzheimer’s Association for treatment of Alzheimer’s and Dementia.
