Louis J. “Jim” Tirrell passed away on November 22, 2021. He was 81 years old.
Born and raised in Winthrop, Jim was a longtime resident of Malden. He was a Malden Auxillary Police Officer for 50 years retiring as Chief and a longtime equipment installer for Verizon. Jim and his wife loved camping for over 50 years and the past 33 years at Lamb City Campground in Phillipston, MA.
Jim leaves his beloved wife of 61 years Patricia L. (Souza) Tirrell. He was the loving father of Theresa Ippolito and her husband Dennis of Malden, Patricia Liberacki and her husband Edward of Saugus, James Tirrell and his wife Lisa of Saugus, Kristine Crowley and her husband Jimmy of Malden, Brian Tirrell and his companion Marie Burns of Marshfield and Brett Tirrell and his wife Brenda of Saugus. Jim was the last and youngest surviving of 12 siblings. He was the cherished grandfather of William McNulty and his wife Allyson, Peter Ippolito and his wife Amy, Krista Davis and her husband John, Carin McGrath and her husband Corey, Matthew Liberacki, Jordan Tirrell, JC and Ryan Crowley, Taylar, Cory, Joshua and Brodie Tirrell, Stephanie Venezia and Sean and Sara Tirrell and the great-grandfather of Giana and Jack Ippolito, RaeLee and Rhece McNulty and Connor McGrath. Jim also leaves many nieces, nephews and friends.
The funeral will be held from the A. J. Spadafora Funeral Home, 865 Main Street, Malden on Saturday, November 27th at 9:00am followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Joseph’s Church, 770 Salem Street, Malden at 10:00am. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours will be on Friday, November 26th from 4-8pm. Interment will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Malden.
