Carlton Lupo, 87, of Irwin County, Georgia, died Monday November 22, 2021, at the home of his daughter in Irwin County, Georgia.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, November 24, 2021, at Old Valley Grove Cemetery, in Irwin County, Georgia, with Pastor Brent Griffin officiating.
Mr. Lupo was born September 18, 1934, in Wray, Georgia, to the late Thomas Jefferson Lupo and Dona Rowells Lupo. He was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Ann Roberts Lupo. Carlton and Barbara Ann were married 57 years and had one son, Mickey Lupo and one daughter, Sandy Lupo Sumner.
After marrying Barbara Ann in 1958, he farmed and lived in the same area for 63 years. He was a man of strong values for the love of the land, and he instilled this in his children and grandchildren. In his earlier years if not farming, watching the Braves or Falcons, he could be found coon hunting or at the stock car races with his best friend late Bennie Lee Swails, but Carlton always stayed close to home. Never in his 63 years venturing to far from his farm, cows, and pigs.
Mr. Lupo is survived by one son and daughter in law, Mickey & Brenda Lupo, one daughter Sandy Lupo Sumner, all of Irwin County; his grandchildren: Magan Lupo & Justin Newell, Blake Sumner & Lauren Smith, Amanda & Bill Barrs, Michelle & Brent Griffin; great-grandchildren: Abby Barrs, Shelby Griffin, Raegan Griffin, Brentley Griffin, Emalea Lupo, Bristol Barrs , Layla Sumner and Hadlea Newell; brothers: Raymond Lupo, Ronnie & Linda Lupo: sister Janelle & Fred Barnes; two sisters-in-law: Bonnie Lupo and Edith Lupo. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Other than his parents and wife, Mr. Lupo was preceded in death by four brothers: Junior Lupo, Bobby Lupo, Johnny Lupo and Lonnie Lupo and one sister, Tweety Barnes.
