Obituary

Joan Marie Robert, 67, of Leicester died Saturday, November 20th With her family by her side. She leaves her daughter Colleen LaPrade McGinnis and her husband, Riley McGinnis of Encinitas, CA. Her siblings and their spouses include David of St. Louis, William and Ruth of Leicester, James and Holly of Paxton, Anne and Gary Warren of Worcester, Annette and Fred Belanger of Leicester and Thomas and Anna of Charlton; many cousins and extended family from the Roberts, Desroches and extended families. Nieces and nephews include her godchild Jill, Dennis, Tammy, Andrew, Tim, James, Miranda, Jeff, Jonathan, John, Nicole, Sarah, Michael, and Karyn. She was predeceased by her brother, Paul.

She was born in Worcester the daughter of the late Roland E. and Eveline A. (Desroches) Robert and graduated from the David Hale Fanning Trade School. Joan was an accomplished seamstress. She worked for several area establishments including Bradlees Department Store, Sessions Casket Company, Spencer Abbey, and most recently with her Nephew at Stress Free Estate Services LLC.

Joan was a giving and free-spirited person who enjoyed looking at the positive things in life. She enjoyed visiting her daughter, Colleen spending time in the sun on the beach together. Joan enjoyed volunteering at Deja New in Leicester.

Joan's visitation will be held Friday, December 3rd from 10:00 until 11:00 a.m. in O'CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue, with her funeral service at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home. Burial will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Deja New, 100 S. Main Street, Leicester, MA 01524 or the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, PO Box 91891, Washington, D.C. 20090.
