Mary Diane Miller, 88, of Ventura, passed away on October 23, 2021 in Ventura following a brief illness. Diane was born in Galveston, Texas to Philo G. Meisenholder and Marguerite Samco Meisenholder on July 29, 1933. The family of an Army officer, they moved frequently when Diane was young. Her father lost his life in North Africa during WWII when Diane was 10 years old. The family moved to South Dakota to be close to family, where they stayed for several years. They then moved to Southern California when Diane was in high school.
Diane graduated from University High School in Los Angeles and then attended UCSB (then UC Santa Barbara College) where she met Charles W. (Chuck) Miller, Jr. They married September 5, 1953 and started a family shortly thereafter. They moved to Ventura after Chuck got a teaching position at Mill School. In 1965, they moved to east Ventura to raise their three children and she lived there for the next 55 years. Diane immensely enjoyed traveling with Chuck, whether it was driving through the Southwest or taking a Russian River Cruise on the Volga. She was very artistic and enjoyed making handcrafted items for sale at local street fairs and later at the Seniors Craft Shoppe in Downtown Ventura where she volunteered for many years.
Diane is preceded in death by her husband, Chuck and her brother Greg Meisenholder. She is survived by her daughter, Suzanne M. Rowe and son-in-law Kelly of Costa Mesa, CA, son, Grant Miller and daughter-in-law Kelly of Prosper, TX, son, Mark Miller and daughter-in-law Karen of Ventura CA, and her beloved grandchildren Brian Miller of Ladera Ranch, CA, Katie Miller of San Francisco, CA, and Hannah and Ryan Miller, both of Prosper TX. She is also survived by her sister Joan Guthrie of Saginaw, MI and her brother Steve Meisenholder of Manhattan Beach, CA.
