Richard E. Tibbetts
Founder of R.T. Flooring Company
TEWKSBURY: Richard E. “Rick” Tibbetts, age 65, a longtime Tewksbury resident, passed away at home on Thursday, November 18, 2021, following an apparent heart attack.
He was the beloved husband of Sandra M. “Sandy” (Byers) Tibbetts, with whom he shared many years of marriage.
Born in Cambridge on July 10, 1956, he was the son of Dorothy (Avinelli) Tibbetts of Medford and the late Herbert E. Tibbetts of Medford.
Rick was raised in Medford, attended the Medford Vocational Technical High School and graduated in 1975.
Prior to his recent retirement, he founded and operated R.T. Flooring Company of Tewksbury since 1980.
Rick was a member of the Tewksbury-Wilmington Elks Post # 2070.
He enjoyed bowling at Brunswick Lanes in Lowell, where he was a member of the “300 Club”. In addition, he enjoyed playing horseshoes, corn hole, going camping, and vacationing at Hampton Beach.
Besides his wife Sandy and his mother Dorothy, survivors include four children, Eric R. Tibbetts and his partner Klaudia of Tewksbury, Mark E. Tibbets of Austin, TX, Amy L. Tibbetts and her partner Nico of Boston and Richard E. Tibbetts, Jr. of Arlington, VA: two grandchildren, Ryan A. and Aubrey C. Tibbetts both of Windham, NH: two sisters, Virginia Tibbetts of Medford and Sandra Tibbetts of Winchester: one brother, Herbert “Geno” Tibbetts Jr. of Medford: and his mother-in-law Lorraine Byers of Tewksbury.
He leaves many nieces, nephews and extended family members and friends.
Calling hours are Tuesday, November 23rd, from 4-8 p.m. at the Farmer & Dee Funeral Home, 16 Lee St., Tewksbury. His funeral procession will begin on Wednesday, November 24th, at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home, followed by his Funeral Mass at 11:30 a.m., at St. William’s Church, 1351 Main St., Rte. 38, Tewksbury.
