CHICOPEE – Chester K. Hale, 89, of the Fairview section of Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Thursday, November 18, 2021. He passed into Eternal Life at the Athol Memorial Hospital in Athol surrounded by the care and comfort of his loving family. He was born in Malden on August 30, 1932, a son of the late Kenneth and Doris (Miles) Hale. He was raised and educated in Worcester and had moved to Fairview in 1968 where he lived the remainder of his life. He served his country United States Army during the Korean War and attained the rank Corporal. He was a longtime Crossing Guard with the Chicopee School Department and enjoyed 22 years on Broadway Street and made many friends. During his leisure time, he enjoyed fishing, playing cards and spending time with his grandchildren and family. He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Carol Ann (Robertson) Hale who was Called Home on February 4, 2012. He leaves his three devoted children, Kenneth W. Hale and his wife, Linda, of West Chicago, IL, Mary-Ann Mansfield of Chicopee and Sandi Nomakeo and her husband, Bob, of Easthampton; his loving companion, Cecile “Frenchie” Mealand of Athol; his six cherished grandchildren, Taylor Mansfield, Dominick Nomakeo, Kate Anderson and her husband, Ryan, Kara Hale, Stacy Money and her husband, Shawn, and Brian Ward; his cherished great-grandson, Cole Wach; and his many dear friends and extended family members. His relatives and friends are invited to attend a Committal Service with United States Army Military Honors on Wednesday, November 24, 2021 at 2 p.m. in the Chapel at the Massachusetts Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery, 1390 Main Street, Agawam, MA 01001. Masks are recommended for his services. There are no visiting hours. His funeral arrangements are entrusted to the St. Pierre-Phaneuf Fairview Chapels, (413-533-3307), 506 Britton Street, Chicopee, MA 01020.
