Katherine June Storment “Kathy”, 68 years of age, of Ventura, California, passed away on 11-15-21 in her home with her family by her side. Kathy battled with Valley Fever Meningitis for over 30 years. She was born in Bakersfield, California to Kenny and Nancy Summerford on May 12, 1953. Kathy attended Bakersfield High and graduated in 1971. Kathy went on to earn an associate degree at Bakersfield College and later became a dental assistant and teacher at Bakersfield Adult Education.
Kathy was an amazing daughter, sister, wife, mother, and grandmother. She loved her family, was protective, selfless, dedicated, always pleasant, brilliant, and encouraging. Kathy was an extremely rational woman and always loving to her friends and family. Together with her husband, they built and remodeled several homes where her door was always open to her family and many lasting memories were made there.
Kathy is survived by her husband of 49 years, Joe Storment Jr., daughter Jennifer and Michael Brown, son Joe III and Dsara Storment, mother Nancy Clark, sister Kimberly and Eric Barron, niece Sarah Barron, grandchildren Cody, Samantha, William, and Benjamin, and life-long friends Debbie and Ronnie Lee. Kathy will live in our hearts forever!
Kathy will be cremated and a family celebration of life will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please consider making donations to infectious disease charities or a charity of your choice. Special thanks to Mission Hospice for the compassionate and comforting care they provided to Kathy and may she rest in peace.
