Obituary

Elliott, Betty Ann (Hynes) of Wellesley, 93, died peacefully on November 16, 2021. Beloved wife of 69 years of J. Joseph Elliott of Wellesley. Loving mother of Joanne E. Reynolds (Mark Reynolds) of Natick and Carolyn Elliott-Farino (Greg Farino) of Marietta, Georgia. Devoted grandmother of Michael Reynolds, Brian Reynolds (Michelle Mandino), Justin Farino, Lila Farino, and Kellee Reynolds, and great-grandmother of Evie and Riley Reynolds. Also survived by her brother-in-law Reverend William J. Elliott, S.J., of Weston. Predeceased by her brother Frank J. Hynes and her sister Joanne Ellis.

Betty Ann was born in Cambridge and grew up in Watertown. She graduated from Regis College in Weston in 1949 with a bachelor’s degree and taught elementary school before her marriage in 1952. After raising her daughters, Betty Ann worked at her alma mater until her retirement in 2019. As a loyal and active alumna with deep connections in the Regis alumni network, she was an invaluable member of the Alumni Affairs and Development Offices and she derived immense joy from her work raising funds for the College and its students. Betty Ann was a member of Charles River Country Club in Newton for 55 years where she was an avid golfer. She and her husband Joe were longtime parishioners at St. James the Great Catholic Church in Wellesley; they were part of a close-knit group that kept vigil there upon its 2004 closing by the Archdiocese of Boston until the property was sold in 2012.

Visiting hours will be held at the George F. Doherty & Sons Funeral Home, 477 Washington St., (Rt.16) Wellesley on Friday, Nov. 26 from 4-7pm. Her funeral will take place from the funeral home on Saturday, Nov. 27 at 9am followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Paul’s Church, Wellesley at 10am. Relatives and friends kindly invited. Interment in Woodlawn Cemetery, Wellesley.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Betty Ann’s memory to Regis College or the charity of your choice.
