CHICOPEE – Rene W. Masse, 91, of the Fairview section of Chicopee passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on November 17, 2021. Rene was born in Chicopee, October 3, 1930, beloved son of the late Henry and Ernestine (Verroneau) Masse. He graduated from Rosary High School, Class of 1948. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict from 1950-1954 and attained the rank of Third-Class Petty Officer serving 3 years on the USS Yosemite (AD-19) and was honorably discharged in 1954. Rene was employed at Hamilton Standard Division of UTC for 31 years and retired as a Senior Buyer in the Purchasing Department. He was a lifetime member of the Chicopee Lodge of Elks #1849. He is survived by his beloved wife Margaret (Krajewski). They were married November 25, 1954 at Mater Dolorosa Church and were blessed with 67 years of happiness together. He leaves his three devoted children William (Bill) and his wife Ann of Ludlow, Gary and his partner Linda Girard of West Springfield, Karen Piotrowski and her husband Rudy of Agawam. Rene is also survived by four cherished granddaughters whom he loved and adored Carly and Taylor Masse and Alyssa and Haley Piotrowski, as well as several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by three brothers, Robert, Lester, and Raymond. Calling hours will be held at St. Pierre -Phaneuf Fairview Chapels, 506 Britton Street, Chicopee, MA 01020 on Monday, November 22, 2021 from 4pm – 6pm. The funeral home parking lot is located in the rear. Rene’s relatives and friends are also invited to attend the Committal Service with United States Military Honors in the Chapel at the Massachusetts Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery, 1390 Main Street, Agawam, MA 01001 on Tuesday, November 23, 2021 at 10am.
