SPRINGFIELD – Laura D. (Borghi) LaGue, 76, of the East Forest Park section of Springfield, was Called Safely Home on Wednesday, November 17, 2021. She passed into Eternal Life at Mercy Medical Center in Springfield surrounded by the care and comfort of her loving family. She was born at home on Lull Street in East Longmeadow on September 18, 1945, a beloved daughter of the late Henry R. and Martha G. (Dilk) Borghi. Her early years were spent in East Longmeadow and Buffalo, New York. She moved back to Springfield around 1960 and lived in the city for the remainder of her life. She was the “Clerk of the Works” and Office Manager for her husband’s business LaGue Electric, Inc. in Springfield. She was a member of the Women of the Moose in Chicopee. Laura was a longtime communicant of Saint Patrick Church on Allen Street in Springfield where she was a 15 year Instructor for their Confraternity of Christian Doctrine classes and was a longtime volunteer for the Saint Patrick Church Youth Group. Laura coached her daughters many soccer games for the Brookside Soccer League. Most of all, she was an amazing woman who adored her family and her many friends. Through her crafty side, Laura enjoyed cooking for her large family, sewing, crocheting, working on floral arrangements and making keepsakes for her loved ones. Laura had a passion for cruise traveling with her husband and her family. She deeply loved the neighborhood kids and welcomed them into her home while raising her own family. She leaves her beloved husband and soul mate, Edward B. LaGue. They were married at Holy Cross Church in Springfield on June 29, 1963 and were blessed with over 58 years of happiness together. Besides her husband, she leaves her six loving children, Diana L. Pepin of Chicopee and her late partner, James W. Pepin who was Called Home on January 8, 2020, Catherine A. King of Springfield, Barbara A. Denette and her husband, Leonard Denette, Sr., Lisa M. LaGue and her husband, Adam Sirum, Stanley S. Green and his wife, Beata Grodzicka-Green, of West Springfield and Annette D. Plourde and her husband, Lawrence, of East Longmeadow; her 13 cherished grandchildren, Jessica Taft and her husband, Frank, Zachary King, Katrina King, Jasmine Vazquez and her husband, Alex, Leonard Denette, Jr., Damian Denette, Bridget Genereux and her husband, Sean, Justin Simpson and his partner, Skye McNeill, Riley Green, Connor Green, Oliver Green, Lindsay Hagedorn and her husband, Grant Hagedorn, Jr., and Emily Plourde and her partner, Brent Moran; her nine cherished great-grandchildren, Sonia and Mia, Nathanial, Richard III, Jayden and Alexi, Paisley, Sophia and Penelope; her two dear sisters, Gloria DiTondo of Buffalo, NY and Eva Pittsinger and her husband, Jeffrey, of Brimfield; and her many dear nephews, nieces, grandnephews, grandnieces, cousins, numerous friends and extended family members. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her two dear sisters, Alice and Marjorie. Her family will receive friends on Friday, November 26, 2021 from 9:30 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. which will be followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at the Cathedral of Saint Michael the Archangel, 254 State Street, Springfield, MA 01103.
