Ellen (Markey) Murphy, 79, of New Bedford died November 12, 2021 at St. Luke's Hospital after a period of declining health.
She was the wife of Henry T. "Hank" Murphy, Jr.
Born in New York, NY November 17, 1942, daughter of the late Theodore F. and Johanna H. "Diana" (Callahan) Markey, she lived in Beeville, TX and Portland, TX before moving to New Bedford, MA in 2009.
Ellen was graduated from American Airlines Stewardess Academy, class of 1964 and she attended Bee County College from 1977-1978.
She was a communicant of Holy Name of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Church in New Bedford and Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church in Corpus Christi, TX where she served as a lector.
Ellen retired as Education Technician at the U.S. Navy College Office, Naval Air Station, Corpus Christi, TX.
Survivors include her husband; a son, H. Timothy "Tim" Murphy, III of Houston, TX; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Ellen Markey Murphy and by her sister, Anne Santantanio.
In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
Her Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Monday, November 22nd at 11 AM in Holy Name of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Church. A service will be held in Texas at a later date.
