Obituary

SPRINGFIELD – Maharania (Persaud) Rose, 104, of Springfield, was Called Safely Home on Sunday, November 14, 2021. She passed into Eternal Life at her home surrounded by the care and comfort of her loving family. She was born in Berbice, Guyana on January 29, 1917, a beloved daughter of the late Madhoo Persaud and Bhagnaia Madhoo. She was raised and educated in Guyana before immigrating to the United States in 1976, settling in the North End section of Springfield. She was a loving homemaker to her late husband, her children and her large extended family. She was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church in Springfield where she was a member of the Over 60 Club. Above all, she loved spending time with her family and her many friends. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Albert E. Rose who was Called Home on March 22, 2002. She leaves her 13 loving children, Elizabeth Teekasingh of Phoenix, AZ, Maureen Ballantine of South Weymouth, Shirley Rose, Carl Rose, Terrence Rose and his wife, Marilyn, William Rose, Ismay Paltoo, Agnes Ali and her husband, Raymond, Olga Somar and her husband, Reuben, and Patrick Rose and his wife, Alice, all of Springfield, Alfred Rose and his wife, Helen, and Ann Ulathorne, all of South Weymouth and Reginald Rose of San Francisco, CA; her 23 cherished grandchildren, her 22 cherished great grandchildren and her two cherished great great grandchildren; and her many dear nephews, nieces, extended family members and friends. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her four dear sons in law, Paul Teekasingh, John Ballantine, Edison Paltoo and Ian Ulathorne; her cherished grandson, Andrew Ballantine; her two cherished great-grandchildren, Meghan Teekasingh and Shane Dobson; her three dear brothers, Dadool, Patrick and Sinda; and her dear sister, Silochnie. Her Funeral will be held on Monday, November 22, 2021 beginning at the St. Pierre-Phaneuf Springfield Chapels, (413-737-1177), 7 Chapin Terrace, Springfield, MA 01107, (funeral home will open at 8:30 a.m.), followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church, 395 Chestnut Street, Springfield, MA 01104. Her Burial will follow the Mass at Calvary Cemetery, 292 Hampden Street, Chicopee, MA 01013. Her family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday, November 21, 2021 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Masks are recommended for her services. Her family requests that memorial donations be made in her name to the Sacred Heart Church Renovation Fund, 395 Chestnut Street, Springfield, MA 01104.
