THOMPSON, CT - Thomas P. Welch III, age 65, passed away Friday November 12, 2021 with his family by his side after fighting a long, heroic battle with chronic illness.
Tom leaves behind his best friend and devoted daughter, Leah Welch; his longtime girlfriend, Debbie Clark; Leah’s mother and his former wife, Betsy Welch; his father, Thomas P. Welch Jr. and his step-mother Joan Welch of Vernon, CT; 3 sisters, Donna Magowan and her husband Bill, Lynne Hamilton and her husband Paul, and Reneé Welch, all of Connecticut; and 3 nieces, 1 nephew, and other extended family members. He was predeceased by his mother, Lorraine Welch and by his sister, Lisa Sharon Welch.
Tom grew up in Dudley, MA where he graduated from Shepherd Hill Regional High School in 1977 in the first graduating class. He moved to Thompson, CT thirty-three years ago where he resided until his passing.
Tom was always a hardworking man! He formerly owned two package stores, Princeton Spirits in Princeton, MA and Lakeside Beer & Wine in Webster, MA. More recently, he worked in the car sales business at both Westboro Toyota and Patrick Subaru up until his retirement in 2012.
His favorite pastimes were working in his yard and keeping it in pristine condition, puttering in the garage, going to Misquamicut beach, eating out for breakfast, washing his BMW, spending time with his pets, and most importantly, spending time with his daughter.
There will be no services at this time. In lieu of donations, please honor Tom’s memory by taking care of your family members who need help and always advocating for them whenever possible!
