FALL RIVER… Judith A. (Martin) Edwards, 86, of Fall River passed away peacefully on November 14, 2021, at Charlton Memorial Hospital surrounded by family.
She was the loving wife of John M. Edwards to whom she had been married for 26 years.
Born in Washington D.C., she was a daughter of the late Jackson and W. Ina (Strain) Martin.
Mrs. Edwards was a member of the Salvation Army and of the Highland Adult Daycare in Fall River MA. She spent several years working in the home, raising her 5 children, before going on to work as a waitress and cook. She had owned and operated the former Four Corners Family Restaurant in Tiverton and had cooked at Lil Bear Sports Lounge. She also received certification as a CNA and worked for several years as a visiting nurse in Rhode Island.
Judith had a passion for computers, crocheting, drawing, cooking and painting, but above all else, she loved spending time with the youngest generations of her family.
Along with her husband, she is survived by her children: Jackson Chaves and his wife Cindy, George Chaves, Jr., Jill Krull, Jay Chaves and Judith Nadeau and her husband John; her grandchildren: Jackson and his wife Karen, Franklin and his wife Jessica, Kristy and her husband Shawn, Michael and his partner Claire, Maryann and her partner Ben, Joshua and his wife Brynne, Jay, Cody and his wife Sarah, Patrick, and Olivia; her great grandchildren: Haley, Amber, Jack Jack, Caden, Connor, Nickolas, Hunter, Ella, Landon, Gunner, Brody, Emmett, Colt, and Gabby; and several very special nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Esther Gallo and Diane Martin.
Memorial visitation to which relatives and friends are invited will be held at South Coast Funeral Home, 1555 Pleasant St. Fall River, MA 02723 on Thursday, November 18, 2021, from 5 – 8 PM with a prayer service to be held at 7 PM in the funeral home. Flowers are welcome, especially daisies. Donations in Judith’s name can be made to the Salvation Army of Fall River, 290 Bedford Street Fall River, MA 02722.
