New Bedford – Lucia F. (Amaral) Costa, age 67 of New Bedford, passed away on Friday, November 12, 2021 at Charlton Memorial Hospital surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of the late Carlos DaCosta.
Lucia was born in Ribeira Grande St Michael, Azores to the late Isabel “Alves” (Ventura) and Manuel Amaral. She had worked in Housekeeping for Sippican Nursing Home. She loved spending time with family and friends and she especially loved spending time with her great granddaughters.
She is survived by her daughters, Niveria DaCosta, and Maria Costa; son, Ricardo Costa; 2 grandchildren, Corey Graca and Shea Costa; 2 great-grandchildren, Payton and Penelope Graca; sisters, Osvaldo Santos and Maria Pereira; brother, Fernando Amaral; as well as her nieces and nephews.
She was the mother of the late Steven Costa and sister of the late Manuel and Jaime Amaral.
Lucia’s visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, November 17, 2021 from 5:00 P.M. – 8:00 P.M. at Perry Funeral Home. Her funeral will take place on Thursday morning, beginning in the funeral home at 9:00 A.M. with a service to take place at 10:00 A.M. Burial will immediately follow in St John's Cemetery.
