In Taunton,Eleanor A. Crossman, age 82, a life-long Taunton resident, died on November 12, 2021 at Marian Manor, following a lengthy illness.
Born in North Dighton, she graduated from Taunton High School, Class of 1957. Eleanor retired from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Highway Department, and had previously worked for Mone & Mathers, PC. She was a life-long communicant of St. Andrew the Apostle Church (formerly St. Joseph’s).
Eleanor was the daughter of the late Elsworth and Mary (McDermott) Crossman. She leaves her sister and best friend, Mary Vaughan, along with several nieces and nephews, which include her caregivers, Loretta and Michael Goldrick, David, Janet and Brian Vaughan, to whom she was a second mother to. She also leaves her great nieces Ashley and Katie Goldrick, and great-great niece and nephews Sophia, Benjamin and Colton Parker, and her dear friend, Patti Fazio. Eleanor was the sister of the late Edward “Ted” Crossman and sister-in-law of the late George Vaughan.
Eleanor loved to travel, and her greatest trip was when she was able to visit Ireland, the birthplace of her grandparents. She would often go dancing, to the movies and out to eat with her friends and loved listening to Country & Western music. Above all, she cherished the time she spent with her family, whom she loved so very much. Eleanor will be deeply missed and remembered for the unconditional love she bestowed upon them.
Her visiting hours will be Friday, November 19th, from 930 to 1100 at O’Keefe-Wade Funeral Home on Washington Street, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Andrew’s the Apostle Church at 11:30. Interment will be at the family plot at the St. Francis Cemetery on Glebe Street. Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
