Ramona Louise Boyt McCann, 98, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, formerly of McIntosh, Florida, died Saturday, November 13, 2021, at Palemon Gaskins Memorial Nursing Home in Ocilla, Georgia.
Graveside services will be held 12 Noon, Wednesday, November 17, 2021, at McIntosh Cemetery, in McIntosh, Florida, with Rev. Ted Wood officiating.
Ms. McCann was born October 17, 1923, in Citra, Florida, to the late Raymond L. & Iva Lou Madden Boyt. While living in McIntosh, Florida, she owned and operated a home daycare. She served on the administrative board of the First United Methodist Church where she held many positions including President and Treasurer along with teaching Sunday School for over 22 years. Ms. McCann also served as President and Treasurer of the Civic League in McIntosh, Florida and taught Bible classes in the school system. She moved to Fitzgerald in 2000 to be closer to her family. Ms. McCann sang with the Bernhardt singers and enjoyed their weekly visits to the area nursing home.
She is survived by her daughter, Sandra M. Powell & Larry of Fitzgerald; a son-in-law, Gregory Platt of Rochelle; three grandchildren: Chip Powell, Heather P. Morgan & Tim and Gared Platt; two great-grandchildren: Ryan Powell and Drew Platt; and two sisters: Dorothy Newell of Ocala, Florida and Alice Faye Goodson of Ocala, Florida. Several nieces and nephews also survive. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two daughters: infant, Gloria Ann and Debra Platt.
The family gratefully acknowledges the care and compassion shown to Ms. McCann by the staff of Palemon Gaskins Memorial Nursing Home and the team of Bethany Hospice and Hospice Care Options.
