MaryLou (Chapman) Andre, beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother of Brockton, Massachusetts passed away on November 11, 2021.
MaryLou was born on April 26, 1935 and lived locally in throughout her childhood with her parents Martha and Russell Chase and her late brother Bruce Chapman.
She received her LPN from Southeastern Technical Institute in 1969 and enjoyed many years working in healthcare. She worked at the former Woodridge House Nursing Home, Goddard Medical Associates and the Goddard Hospital. She especially enjoyed working with the inmates at MCI Correctional Facility in Bridgewater.
MaryLou enjoyed traveling throughout the U.S. and Canada with her family and friends. Her hobbies included knitting, crossword puzzles, crafting, gardening and playing cards. She was an avid reader whose favorite place was in a chair by the window to watch the birds and pet her cats. Everyone’s “Nana” was in her element when cooking for and feeding her family and their friends, as well as any stray animal in the neighborhood.
She is survived by her daughters, Maureen Cleary and Phylliss Walsh and son-in-law Richard Walsh, her grandchildren, Jason Bumpus, Justin Bumpus and Harmony Cleary, her great-granddaughters Haley Bumpus and Rhiannon Cleary-Brown, her granddaughter-in-law Whitney Bumpus, grandson-in-law James Brown, her nephew Bruce Chapman II and his family.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend services at Blanchard Funeral Chapel on Plymouth Street (Rte. 58 @ the rotary) Whitman, MA on Saturday Dec. 4, 2021. Visitation will be from 3-4, with a memorial service immediately following at 4pm.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the South Shore Humane Society or the Hilltop Humane Society.
