Obituary

SPRINGFIELD - Paul L. Gelinas, 62, of the Sixteen Acres section of Springfield, was Called Home on Friday, November 12, 2021. He passed away suddenly at home while getting ready to go hunting with his friends, surrounded by his beloved canine companions Marley and Lonzo. He was born in Springfield on August 20, 1959, a beloved son of Laura E. (Plante) Gelinas of Springfield and the late Lawrence A. Gelinas who was Called Home on February 27, 2002. He was raised in Springfield, graduated from Putnam Vocational High School in Springfield and had lived in Ludlow before returning to Springfield. He was employed as a Lead Pressman at Data-Mail, Inc. in Newington, Connecticut. He previously worked at the National Blank Book Company in Holyoke and Avery-Dennison in Chicopee. He was a communicant of Saint Catherine of Siena Church in Springfield and a member of the Graphic Communications International Union. During his leisure time, he enjoyed snowmobiling, hunting, recreational shooting, bowling and woodworking. He also enjoyed traveling with his wife, trying his luck at the casinos and spending time with his family, his many friends and especially three cherished grandchildren who were the "Apple of His Eye". He leaves his beloved wife and best friend, Patricia A. (Frigon) Gelinas. They were married on October 20, 1979 at Holy Family Church in Enfield, Connecticut and were blessed with over 42 years of happiness together. In addition to his mother and wife, he leaves his two loving children, Lynanne Gelinas and her partner, Andrew Kratzenberg, of Tucson, AZ and William Gelinas and his wife, Elizabeth, of East Longmeadow; his three cherished grandchildren, Ivy, Theodore and Faye; his sister, Michelle Gelinas and her partner, Joao Ferreira, of Chicopee; his brother, James Gelinas; his dear mother in law, Norma Frigon of Enfield, CT; his brother in law, Derick Caruso and his wife, Teresa, of Enfield, CT; his sister in law, Denise Katilus and her husband, Paul, of Enfield, CT; and his many nephews, nieces, uncles, aunts, cousins, numerous friends and extended family members. In addition to his father, he was predeceased by his father in law, William Frigon; and his sister in law, Kathleen Caruso. His Funeral will be held on Saturday, November 20, 2021 beginning at the St. Pierre - Phaneuf Springfield Chapels, (413-737-1177), 7 Chapin Terrace, Springfield, MA 01107, (funeral home will open at 8:15 a.m.), followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at Saint Catherine of Siena Church, 1023 Parker Street, Springfield, MA 01129. His Burial will follow the Mass at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 421 Tinkham Road, Springfield, MA 01129. His family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, November 19, 2021 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Masks are recommended for his funeral services.
