Obituary

Lorraine Minchello (Toland) began her journey to heaven on November 10th, 2021. She left this world surrounded by her loving family. Lorraine was the cherished wife of the late Robert V. Minchello. In addition to many loving extended family members, Lorraine’s immediate family includes her son, Robert Minchello and his wife Carol of Woburn, MA, Kathleen McCauley and her husband Michael of Woburn MA, James Minchello and his wife Linda of Boston, MA, and Donna Savino of Stoneham, MA. Lorraine has ten grandchildren, Meredith O’Keefe, Heather Lentz, Robert Minchello, Angela Minchello, Jamie Minchello, Sabrina McCauley, Samantha McCauley, Mercedes Hughes, Nicholas Savino and Joseph Savino. She also has five blessed great-grandchildren, who provided her immeasurable joy in her later years: Kiley, Braden, Sienna, Maddie and Nate. Lorraine is the dear sister of Bernadette Gerald, Dorothy Shaw, Daniel Toland, and the late Albert and John Toland. Beloved daughter of the late John and Margaret Toland.

Lorraine was born in Somerville MA on September 14, 1933 and graduated from Somerville High School, class of 1951. It was there, where she met the love of her life, Robert (Bob) Minchello. In 1954, they married and raised their family on Sherwood Road in Medford, MA. Lorraine devoted her life to family and friends. She and her husband, Bob, worked tirelessly to provide opportunities for their kids and were always there to support others in their times of need. As a grandmother and great grandmother, she adored her role as the “Family Matriarch” and proudly bragged of their accomplishments. Memorable to all, were the gatherings and functions she organized and hosted to bring everyone together.

Lorraine will always be remembered as a graceful dancer. She could be seen with her husband, Bob, smoothly gliding around the dance floors at weddings and local dance halls and always encouraging others to dance and not “sit it out”.

Lorraine leaves a legacy of love, for a lifetime of caring for others. She will be missed and remembered with great love by all those who have been fortunate to share her beautiful life. We send her on her journey with our love and prayers, until we meet again.

Visitation will be held at the Breslin Funeral Home, 610 Pleasant Street, Malden on Friday, November 19th, from 9:30-11 AM. A Funeral Mass will follow at 11:30am at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 441 Fellsway West, Medford MA. Services will conclude with interment in Oak Grove Cemetery in Medford.

It is the request of Lorraine’s family that, in lieu of flowers, donations kindly be sent to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
