WESTON: Barbara B. Elmes, 88, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, after a short illness on November 9, 2021.
Born on the first day of May in 1933, Barbara was the daughter of Burton and Helen Bruce and the sister of the late Richard Bruce. She was the wife of Charles F. Elmes, who passed away in 1985. Barbara will be remembered as an active community member of her beloved town, Weston, which she called home for nearly 60 years. Barbara was a photographer for The Weston Town Crier and found immense joy in capturing the people and places of her community. She enjoyed volunteering, giving back, and serving on committees of different organizations, particularly the Weston Garden Club. A lover of dogs, she enjoyed training the family's retrievers. Until her final days, Barbara followed the stock market and was an avid reader of The New York Times.
She is survived by her three sons, Derrick, and his wife Kirsten of Woolwich, Maine, David and his wife Linn of Lincoln, and Duncan of Weston, and her grandchildren, Samuel, Kate, Natalie, and Sophie.
