Obituary

Mrs. Jacqueline D. (Bouchard) Menihane, 88, of Methuen passed away on Sunday, November 7, 2021, at Lawrence General Hospital. The daughter of the late Narcisse and Marie Rose (Deshaies) Bouchard, she was born in Lawrence and had been an area resident all of her life. She was the widow of Joseph P. Menihane, who predeceased her by almost exactly two years. They were married for more than 60 years and were completely devoted to each other. Mrs. Menihane retired from the IRS where she worked as a tax examiner. She was active at her beloved church, St. Monica's in Methuen, donating crafts like needlepoint creations to the annual fair and volunteering for Girl Scout trips. But most of all she loved to spend time with her family. Mrs. Menihane's children and grandchildren relish many wonderful memories of her. She loved going to concerts or the circus with her daughters and grandchildren. She also loved to knit, especially creations for her grandchildren. She served as her grandsons' CCD tutor and was a wise and kind homework helper and companion to her grandchildren. Once she was interviewed by her grandson for a school project on holiday traditions. She told him of memories of visiting relatives in Canada for New Year's, in which the family would enjoy a big dinner and go for ride on a horse-drawn sleigh, followed by cups of hot cocoa and the singing of French songs. Mrs. Menihane loved horror films and attending them with her grandsons. A big fan of Anthony Hopkins, she and her grandsons on her very last outing went to a showing of "The Silence of the Lambs." She also enjoyed daytime talk shows and was a fan of Whoopie Goldberg. She adored everything about cats, giving several plenty of love and attention over the years. Most recently, she helped care for her daughter's cat, Leo, who still looks for her, nuzzling next to her belongings. Mrs. Menihane was a perfectionist at baking precisely shaped cookies. Her peanut butter cookies topped with a Hershey Kiss were long savored and will be forever missed by her grandchildren. Her Toll House cookies were also favorites. She always took pride in keeping an immaculate home. She is survived by her three daughters: Karen and her husband Arist Frangules of North Andover, Patricia Unni and her boyfriend Raymond Barrieau of Methuen, and Michelle and her husband John Cotnoir of Dracut. She also leaves seven grandchildren: Christopher, Phillip, and Matthew Frangules, Hannah and Isabella Unni, and Emma and Sarah Cotnoir. There are many nieces and nephews and extended family. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her name to Melmark New England and St. Jude Children's Research Hospital are suggested.

Funeral Services will be held at a later date. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Edgar J. Racicot Inc. Funeral Home, 1400 Broadway Road, Dracut. Online condolences may be shared at www.racicotfuneralhome.com.
