Joe David Thomason, 69, of Tifton passed away Thursday, November 11, 2021, at Tift Regional Medical Center. His funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, November 14, 2021, at Oak Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. Gary Cadwell officiating. Mr. Thomason will be laid to rest at Oak Ridge Cemetery with the Rev. Mike Patillo officiating. The family will receive friends on Sunday, November 14, 2021, at Oak Grove Baptist Church from 2:00 p.m. until the hour of the service.
Tommy Barry, Chad Davis, Mike Clements, Jason Clements, Charles Cook and Steve Kelly will serve as pallbearers.
Born September 27, 1952, in Camden, South Carolina, Mr. Thomason was the son of the late Joe Tom Thomason and Virginia Railey Thomason Frier. He was also preceded in death by his step-father, Roy Mahue Frier, Jr. Before retiring, he was a mechanic at Queen Carpet in Tifton for 28 years. He loved building models of airplanes, stock cars, and space aircraft, and he was an amateur astronomer. He loved taking in stray cats and was the best Papa ever. He was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church, where he served as deacon for many years.
Mr. Thomason is survived by his wife, Linda Faye Bazzle Thomason of Tifton; two daughters and sons-in-law, Crystal and Duane White of Cypress, Texas, and Allison and Michael Bracewell of Tifton; two brothers, Douglas Thomason of Rome, New York, and Clayton Thomason of Royston; and four grandchildren, Christian White, Ethan White, Murphy Bracewell, and Everly Bracewell; his bonus grandchildren, Christen and Jeremy Gill; and two bonus great-grandchildren, Ruby Lynn Gill and Charlie Gill.
