Obituary

In Taunton, George McGlynn, 81, of Taunton, MA, passed away on Sunday, November 7, 2021 at Morton Hospital. A lifelong resident of Taunton, he was the son of the late George & Dora (Henault) McGlynn. George was a true Patriot. Upon graduating from Taunton High School, he served in the United States Marine Corps. He was a veteran of the U.S.M.C from 1958-1964. A member of U.S.M.C Semper Fidalis, the American Legion Post #405, retired Police Officer Association, Dighton Yacht Club, and a past President of the Italian National Club. He later continued to serve his community as a City of Taunton Police Officer for 33 years.
In his spare time he loved to read and study military history, enjoyed gardening, fishing, and was a diehard Red Sox fan, never wavering in his support.
George was the big brother to the late David, Paul and Ruth McGlynn and leaves behind his loving sister, Cathy Viera of Falmouth, brother Dennis McGlynn, his beloved children; James, Jeffrey, Peter and Kathleen, and his loving grandson, Jacob McGlynn.
A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, November 16th at 11am. at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Taunton. Visiting hours are kindly omitted. Arrangements are under the care of the O’Keefe-Wade Funeral Home in Taunton.
