David R. MacSwain of Franklin died peacefully on November 8th with his family at his home. Born in Boston on July 6,1929. He was the son of David Robert MacSwain and Lucy Whidden MacSwain, grew up in Dorchester, MA and has been a Franklin resident for the past 57 years.
Dave was a veteran of the Korean Conflict and was stationed in Germany.
David’s passion was travelling, and among his favorite spots were Canada, from Nova Scotia to the glaciers of Alberta and the Rockies of British Columbia, Ireland, Japan, Germany, Scotland and 47 of the states in the U.S. He crossed the U.S. via motorhome and enjoyed over 40 years of visiting different places particularly Colorado and South Carolina.
David is survived by his wife Marie (McLaughlin) MacSwain, his two daughters and spouses – Jan Henault and husband David, Donna MacSwain-Santos and husband Tokyoshi, granddaughters Katelyn (Henault) Hassell and husband Matthew, Tanika Rose Santos MacSwain of Richmond, VA, and Ashira M. Santos of Houston, TX.
David was the brother of the late Barbara (MacSwain) Shepherd and Miriam (MacSwain) Seferian and also leaves several nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his calling hours in the Charles F. Oteri and Son Franklin Funeral Home 33 Cottage St. from 2:00-5:00 PM on Sunday, November 14.
Burial will be private at the National Cemetery in Bourne, MA.
