LYONS, John “Séan” 93 of Canton formerly of Dedham, passed away peacefully November 9, 2021 at home surrounded by his loving family. John, the son of the late Michael and Delia (Callanan) of Loughrea, Co. Galway, Ireland. Beloved husband of Veronica T. (Power) of 67 years. Loving father of John (Jay) Lyons and his wife Mary of Norwood, Ann Harvis and her husband Adam of Sherburne , NY, and Ellen Llewellyn and her husband David of Midlothian, VA. Cherished grandfather of Stephen, Jennifer, Lynne and her husband Christopher, Christopher M., Matthew, and Kerri. Cherished great-grandfather of Connor and Addison. Predeceased by his brothers Michael, Paddy, and Séamus. Cherished uncle to many nieces and nephews.
John was so proud of his family, loved his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren dearly. John was a Korean War Veteran serving in the U.S. Army. He was a member of Kilconieron GAA, Boston Galway GAA, Galway of New York GAA, New England Celtics GAA, Connecticut State Hurling Club, North American Board GAA Officer, and Board Officer Irish Cultural Center of Canton.
John loved Irish music and watching live telecasts from Ireland. John lived a full and complete life full of love, laughter, and happiness. He will be deeply missed by all.
Visiting hours will be held at the George F. Doherty & Sons Wilson-Cannon Funeral Home, 456 High St., DEDHAM on Friday, Nov. 12 from 4-8pm. His funeral will take place from the funeral home on Saturday, Nov. 13 at 9am followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Mary’s Church, Dedham at 10am. Relatives and friends kindly invited. Interment in New Westwood Cemetery.
